Low Impact...

I had my follow-up appt with the podiatrist today regarding the tendonitis in my right foot.  She said it all looks good and that I can start up with low impact cardio workouts (elliptical trainer, spinning, swimming), but no jogging/running yet for another 3-4 weeks.   So I won't be running the Fiesta Flambeau parade this year :(  I truly enjoy running this event.  It is the event that inspired me to take up running in the first place. (See here)   I've come to think of this run as the "kick-off" to my summer training for the fall/winter marathons.

Oh well...  I will heed the advice of the professionals because my goal is to run the Marathons of Texas this year in addition to the Rock 'n Roll San Antonio in November.

Have a great weekend!

What is that...?!

Last night's American Idol Motown performances were really good!  If you haven't gotten to watch it, don't worry, I'm not going to spoil it for you.  I'm guessing the votes will be really close, but I'm thinking that ____ will be going home tonight.

For the record, my 3 favorites are Casey, Haley & Scotty - plus Paul & James.  I guess I really have 5 favorites.  Who are yours?

I am, however, going to spoil this for you...

WHAT IS THAT ON RANDY'S CHIN???

It looks like a bingo marker!  I couldn't even hear his comments on the 1st performance cuz I was laughing & heckling the television!!!  Randy! Please! Shave! That! Off!!!!!!
-----
And what about Survivor?  Again, I don't want to spoil it for those of you who haven't watched it...  But, Philip...  OMG... Really???  This guy is seriously mental.

Wanna be crafty this weekend

The plan for this weekend (after LQ's t-ball game is to do our taxes.)   BUT I am really tempted to create something like this instead...

I saw it at Hobby Lobby ($30).  It's just wood, paint & modpodge.  Easy, right?  And super-uber cute!
I'm also tempted to try making one of these pretty wreaths I saw at Jenn's blog earlier this week.

Anyone else tempted to partake in some artsy stuff with me?

$1500 Cup

Hodgpodging with the gals over at Joyce's "bloghouse"

1. What would you do if you found a pot of gold? Let's pretend this pot of gold is worth exactly $1500 (which would actually be more like a cup of gold at current values). Anyway, let's also pretend you have to spend it as opposed to making a donation someplace. Now tell me what you would do with that pot of gold?
I would buy a new dining table.  I've seen one at Costco.  It's a square counterheight with 8 chairs for around $900!!!  Then I'd have plenty left to get new dishes, glasses, and silverware.  I have no idea what happens to all of our spoons!  I could have sworn there were 12, now there are only 7!!!  If I'm smart with this little $1500 cup, I should have enough left to cover my racing fees for this year so I wouldn't have to budget my races and the Mister wouldn't look at me like I'm crazy cuz I like to spend money to run 26.2 miles with thousands of crazy people through the streets of Texas major cities.

2. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form?
Only to pinch the person next to me.

3. Have you been bitten by the Spring Cleaning bug? What spring cleaning job most needs doing at your house? What spring cleaning job are you most dreading?
I have!  I cleaned the fridge on Sunday, cleaned the loft Monday, cleaned the freezer yesterday, and I'm gonna work on the craft/music room next!  I've been motivated to do a little bit everyday (Small Things) by Rachel Anne and the Company Girls.  I have been an ALL or NOTHING kind of housekeeper, so I'm trying to adopt the notion that "a little bit add up quick."  The spring cleaning job that I dread the most is THE PANTRY!!!

4. lime-shamrock-sage-forest...your favorite shade of green?
Lime & flourescent are my faves :)

5. Thomas Jefferson once said, "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." So...do you believe in luck or do you believe we make our own luck?
I believe that we make our own luck thru the grace & power of our Father... 2 Cor 9:8 "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

6. Monday (3/14) was Pi Day. Get it? Pi =3.14. Those math types are so clever aren't they? Since I'm not one of them tell me what's your favorite piE (the edible kind).
1. Chocolate Cream
2. Dutch Apple
3. Peach

7. That same date (3/14) happens to be the birthdate of the late physicist Albert Einstein. I bet he knew the value of Pi. So...what do you think is more important and or valuable in life... intelligence or common sense?
Common sense sprinkled with age-appropriate intelligence.  I am publicly admitting that in a moment of weakness, I foolishly allowed myself to watch Jack*** 3-D with my brother (in celebration of his 31st birthday) and my dear hubby.  Yes, I did laugh at some parts, but I wanted to throw up at others.  That's all I'm gonna say about that.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I love looking at other blogs and their design.  I haven't figured out how to add the cute photo banners and cute labels.

We had family pictures taken at Christmas time by Breanna.
Here's ONE of my favorites.

Have a Wacky Wednesday!

Kites

I went up to LQ's school this afternoon to fly kites with 1st graders.

What was I thinking?

It sounded like fun... at the moment.

Good thing the school yard is fenced in.
I lost my boy in a sea of 5-6 yr olds and kites.

LQ's teacher, Mrs. C, asked me if I had gotten some pictures.
At that moment I admitted that I hadn't because I couldn't find my son.
Oh wait!  Is that him zipping by.

I caught this pic after I had finished helping at least 5 other kids
untangle their strings and get their kites back in the air.

It appeared that all the children were having fun.
I heard things like...
"Mrs. Snow, my kite broke."
"Mrs. Snow, my kite won't fly."
"Q's mom, the stick came off my kite, can you put it back on?"
"Mrs. Snow, help me!"
Wait!  There's my boy again.  Running with his Avatar kite.

I'm glad we splurged on the $3 kite.

It survived.

I did too.

Friday Coffee

Friday is one of my favorite days.

I work part time, Mon, Tue & Thu, and I normally stay in on Friday and catch up on any lifetime recordings.  But, I am going to the office today for just a couple of hours to finish up next week's email campaign.

Before I leave, I wanted to fill you in...

LQ started t-ball this week.  We got him registered late so the team already completed 2 practices, so his first practice was a scrimmage game.  He was SO CUTE!

All the kids were adorable and some of them were so small, I just wanted to scoop them up and run them around the bases.  It was fun watching them all light up and learn what to do.  When it was over and we headed to the car, LQ looked up at me, smiled, spoke lightly and said, "Mom, that was fun.  Can we do it again?"  My heart melted :)  We have practice again tomorrow and the Boy and his "Cardinals" team have 14 games scheduled between now and the end of May!  Wow!
-----
I overheard a conversation a few days ago - is that eavesdropping? - whereby someone was saying they avoid blogs and facebook because people normally only post 'the good stuff' of their life.  Another person said they feel like their life is boring or that their role as a parent is lacking.

I guess I'm guilty of posting only the 'good stuff.'

So, right now, I'm admitting that I dislike housekeeping.  Don't get me wrong.  I enjoy being in a clean house, but I'm not thrilled about being the one to clean it.  The downstairs of my house is normally in OK shape, but if you ever decide to 'drop in' for a visit - be prepared to see ME and not look at my floors or the counters or the shelves or the coffeetable or the pantry.  Paper, magazines, mail, cups/glasses, and shoes make their home over all these areas.  And you can forget about 'seeing my house' cuz the upstairs is even crazier!
-----
Next week is spring break!  I wish F was coming home for a visit but she got a new job and has lots of studying to do.  I really miss her but had a sweet phone conversation with her earlier this week.

Here are some pics of the day trip we made to see her a few weeks ago.

-----
V let me color her hair this week and it's back to black :)  Here's a serious pic she sent me whilest she was studying in class.
She is so pretty :)  Don't let the bullet bracelet worry you... lol
-----
Made one of our favorite meals last night.  King Ranch Chicken!  It a rotel recipe and I encourage you to make it.  Chicken cooking tip: bring to a boil in salt/sugar water and the chicken comes out M.U.Y..D.E.L.I.C.I.O.S.O!  It's a top family favorite.  PLUS, I followed it up with a fruit bowl.  We absolutely LOVE FRUIT and the strawberries are coming into season - YUMMO!
-----
Have a great weekend!  Mine starts now at 1:15 when I head to LQ's school to help a classroom of 1st graders FLY KITES!  Wish me luck and pray for my patience!  LOL

Come Back to Texas

Hey Texans!  This is a Fun Song!  Have you heard it?

Q, V and I take music lessons - Q on drums, V on bass & me on guitar. This is one we are trying to learn. I'm posting the acoustic version since I'm picking up the guitar bit, but here's the link to listen to the CD version.

Yay for Today!

Today is Pancake day!  Woohoo!!!  I don’t know why I’m excited about this – this is the FIRST TIME I’ve ever heard of it!!!  So I must join the celebration and make pancakes for dinner.  Gotta make sausage & eggs too – gonna go all out and make the pancakes from scratch!

Today is my brother’s 31st birthday.  He came over last night (my Mom & Dad too) and I made him dinner and baked chocolate chip cookies.  I made chicken, beef & bean chalupas – which I made my own tostadas.  I normally buy them made so all I have to do is warm them up.  I do admit, they do taste much better when they are fried right then & there – yummo!

Today my 6 year old son has his first t-ball practice.  He is super excited and so am I.  If you know my son, he’s a talker – full of knowledge & ideas… you know… vision.  Please pray he doesn’t try to become the team coach or team statistician the first day.  Really.  Lol

Today is Devin’s 1st birthday.  Sweet Devin is the most precious gift & blessing and I Thank God for delivering him to my sweet BFF, Christina & her hubby, Derek.  I love being his “auntie.”

Today I worked out for the first time since I ran the Austin marathon.  I’ve been instructed not to run or walk a lot since I’ve developed tendonitis in my right foot which was hurting a lot post race.  But today I went to the gym and got on the stationary bike and did some strength training.  Whew!  It was rough but felt “oh so good!”

Yay for Today!
